Why are we quick to forget?

Your laying on the ground defeated.

You look for someone to blame, but you cant.

What you could control you no longer can.

You hear hate in your mind which has echoed from your heart.

The voices in your head spreading messages of dread.

You recall that you have been here before.

If I am here now and I was here then who’s to say it won’t just keep happening again and again.

You feel betrayed you feel cheated.

Your laying on the ground defeated.

When we are pushed to our breaking points and lust for self-destructive behavior it is hard to ever remember one good thing ever happening in our entire lives. It feels like falling down a bottomless pit and when you try to look left and right to see the bright side you are reminded of more darkness.

If only they would lookup

Just like when we feel happy, we go on the perfect drive the song hits just right we arrive at our sunny destination and all the chips fall in our favor we are filled with thoughts of joy, thanksgiving, and savoring.

You have never after laughing at the beach with your friend in the sunshine immediately after thought wow that was funny

“I can’t live like this anymore”

Just like how you have never in your most negative mindstate thought

“Wow I just can’t get enough of this”

When we reach our emotional states peak, the yin & yang if you will, the yin blocks thoughts of the yang and the yang blocks the yin. If they did not, well this dance of emotion would be ruined quickly becoming corrupted by one and another.

I only remember the good times.

When we are happy for a brief moment we have completely blocked out all sadness as

You drown not by falling into a river, but by staying submerged in it.” ~ Paulo Coelho.

The temporary experience of happiness makes us feel like a rescue team is coming to find us and that we will be pulled out of the water and taken to rescue. For a brief moment, we forget that there’s a chance no one is coming to look for us and that we may experience our true deaths here, we forget about how it is getting dark and we forget that we are caught in a rip.

Let us farm hope not happiness

The scenario before actually paints feelings of hope for a second, and that came from the experience of this fleeting thing called happiness. It is better to hope to be happy then only be hopeful when you’re happy. Let us not even hope to be happy but to have hope.

Hope is the battery of continued happiness and it is the battery of the torch that shines light in the bad times.

Have you ever been happy or had a few perfect days and had that dreaded thought it won’t last, well after you think that it usually doesn’t haha. Be careful what you wish for, we can use hope to prolong these positive feelings instead of squash them, and when we are in the dark we can have hope that things will change and then they always do as nothing lasts forever. This to shall pass.

NO FORGET

Back to that hell hole of a dark pit, we should try and remember our blessings like how we do when we are happy, when we are happy we think wow look at the green grass and the blue waves, wow that meal was just perfect, they are such good friend, etc. When we are in hell we should think the same as it is

Better to Light a Candle Than to Curse the Darkness

Best to think well this is a toxic feeling, but I do have some great friends I’m sure they can cheer me up or I am grateful I have them. If you have a family you can think the same things, and if you don’t have friends or family you can remember that you have been here before and will eventually be released from it. Remember the things you have achieved and how far you have come, if you still feel rotten do something self-indulgent not self-destructive but not something that is misery in the disguise of some much-needed self-indulgence like eating a ton of ice cream. Better to have a few drinks with your friend and vent how you feel and they will snap you back to reality than to drink by yourself to you blackout. You might have to stay in for the day if you will let your anger out on the world elsewhere, do what you have to do until you are ready to face the world again.

Dont be alone

Sometimes its good to be alone to vent, but sometimes you just happen to be alone and the demons strike, if that’s the case avoid people to you have found your bearings than slowly approach a scenario where you can tell someone how you feel.

Dont be stingy

I’ve found that when you’re there for others during there BullS**t someone will always be there for you when you hit rock bottom, so lend an ear when you can so when you need one it will be hear for you *cough*

See a professional or one of your pro friends

If you’ve got good mates let them help you out if you don’t see someone who can, no excuses.

Fight fire with fire

I used to be a massive subscriber to the pitfall, I always use to listen to the bully in my brain but I learned we have to fight fire with fire in this scenario, here’s how you handle dialogue with yourself internally.

“Things are always going to be like this for you, no one will love you for who you are”

“Shut up your lieing”

“ haha you car is smashed and you just smashed your phone how you going to keep this show going”

“haha I’m going to do nothing that’s what you want me to do”

“ that injury you got is going to wrap up any chance of you continuing sport and you’re an idiot cause you did it to urself”

“your a dog I have been injured before and made it through I will do it again”

“what if this time you won’t recover haha what if its a permanent thing aye?”

“If that’s what happens then so be it everything happens for a reason ill cross that bridge when I come to it.”

When that voice in your head comes its best to treat it like a rap battle or an improv comic you have to have a rebuttal quick otherwise it will marinate and destroy you homeboy. Dont feed it, and give in or you lose, remember before you only drown by being submerged not by falling into the lake, sure you have unfortunately found urself in this terrible state of mind but swim for the shore the best way you know how and don’t let fear or doubt stop you or you will drown or you can use the floating technique on your back and just not communicate with the dark side of urself at all and let the experience happen and detach yourself from it. But don’t for one second believe that evil conniving son of a monkey’s uncles pet rabbits cousins brother of the devil’s idea that you are drowning and let him lead you deeper into his depths. Hell…no.

God Helps Me

Sometimes the fight gets too brutal between me and my demons and that’s when I give it up to god, I tell him I let it all out every detail releasing my weakness in its ugly entirety, I release my soul to him and he always takes me to greener pastures. He was the one who unsubscribed me from tailoring to the dark side in the first place so I find myself ashamed when I lose faith in the one who can do everything just cause I have pulled a couple of short straws.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

I’ll leave you here with someone thousands of years ago having the same experience as I am right now, just remember to take care of yourself guys there’s always a reason to keep fighting even if it means staying alive just for people who can’t fight for themselves.

I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted. I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
I meditated, and my spirit grew faint. You kept my eyes from closing;
I was too troubled to speak. I thought about the former days,
the years of long ago; I remembered my songs in the night.
My heart meditated and my spirit asked: “Will the Lord reject forever?
Will he never show his favor again? Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time? Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?” Then I thought, “To this, I will appeal:
the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. With your mighty arm, you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. The waters saw you, God,
the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed. The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth. Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked. Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.

To break this down let us use this verse whether you believe in god or not as a step-by-step formula or breakdown on how to deal with hardships.

At first, naturally, he released his feelings he cried out and felt distressed and alone, he then questions if God would ever favor him again just like we sometimes question will we ever get out of this state of mind that we are in.

He then decides rather than to curse the darkness by believing God has abandoned him or rather thinking that the world is against you and there’s something wrong with you he lights a candle of hope by thinking of all the great things God has done for him, he then says he will consider the works God has done in his life review them and receive joy from them, he is grateful.

This can be done also by thinking of a person or an animal or anything special to you remember them and be thankful for them, reach out to them and be kind to them and love them while you can. Some people may not have friends or family or pets, I am lucky enough to have all three but I also use a fourth resource which is my most helpful one, that someone who has none of those things can use. And that is our direct line to Jesus Christ. Which can be accessed at any time any place, with anyone or with no one, Amen.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
